About Coastal Campfires

Our Story

Coastal Campfires was inspired through three generations of outdoor enthusiasts, born and raised in the Pacific Northwest.  Being surrounded by an untamed tangle of ecology and natural beauty with majestic mountain peaks, pristine glacier-fed lakes and rivers, miles of unspoiled ocean shores, calf-burning hiking trails and jaw dropping views and vistas, one cannot help feeling a connection and deep appreciation to the vastness and beauty of the wilderness around us.

Having spent countless, unforgettable days and hours exploring both the Canadian and US National, State and Provincial parks, we cherish and honor the commitment and dedication that early environmentalists made to preserve the special places that we so revere.  At the same time, we are deeply concerned with the effects of climate change and aspire to uphold the spirit of the early environmentalist by creating a company that both supports the protection of these special places and leaves a legacy for future generations to behold.

Why Campfires?

Whether it be scaling the Chief in Squamish, catching the perfect wave on Cox Bay in Tofino, taking on Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Forest or paddle-boarding on Oregon’s Nehalem Bay, what we believe ties these experiences together is the end-of-day campfire.  There’s something special about sitting around a fire at night, gazing at the stars, talking and reflecting with friends and family.  The laughter, the conversations, the reflective pauses that transpire as one watches the dancing flames and feels their warmth.  The campfire conversation is special – one is often struck by the mystery of life, the wonder of the universe and the sheer beauty of the wildness around us.  Conversation shifts and the trivial often fades away as one reflects on deeper meanings.  The campfire calls us to honesty and sincerity.  Conversations feel more reflective, more authentic and more real.  This is not a time for boasting, complaining, or casual talk about the minor details of our lives.  Rather, this is a time to reach for the center of our experience and share it with others.  In this sense, campfire conversations are like no other in the modern world.  They are primal, personal and intensely meaningful.  Put simply, campfires bring individuals and families closer together.

Coastal Campfires yearns to channel this spirit to create responsible products that serve to enhance the campfire experience, making it more readily accessible, more memorable and more meaningful.  Out signature product, the Coastal Campfire, allows both outdoor enthusiasts and families alike to create the campfire experience wherever they are in the great outdoors, even if the great outdoors is the backyard patio.  Whether it be to recount the day’s adventures, as a catalyst for deeper conversations about the meaning of life, or ghost stories and S’mores before bedtime, gathering around a Coastal Campfire will help transform the day’s experiences and moments into cherished memories.  Through its commitment to 1% to the Planet, along with significant contributions to environmental causes that support wildfire prevention, shoreline preservation and National Parks on both sides of the border, Coastal Campfires strives to help foster the creation of lifetime memories and at the same time, do its part to support and defend the majesty of the great outdoors.

Our Products

Coastal Campfire products are carefully curated items designed and sourced with a singular goal in mind – to create memorable and magical outdoor campfire experiences - whether they take place on a remote wilderness peak, in an urban backyard, lakeside or oceanside or on the 28th floor of a downtown condominium balcony.

Our signature product, the Coastal Campfire features sustainable, post-industrial wood biomass encased in a soy-based, food grade and Kosher-friendly wax.  Coastal Campfires are smoke-free, odorless, non-toxic, carbon neutral and made with renewable wood sourced from FSC-Certified forests and SCAQMD and CARB approved for low VOC emissions.  The metal tin is made from recycled materials and is fully recyclable when use is completed.  We strongly believe that real campfires are made with real wood, not recycled paper from some unknow origin.  A Coastal Campfire burns hotter, is more easily lit and typically lasts longer than paper-based, portable campfires.  With traditional campfires bans an ongoing reality in a number of states and provinces during what is typically the height of camping season, a Coastal Campfire may provide a safe alternative to a full-sized campfire, all the while mirroring the traditional campfire experience.  No plans to go camping in the great outdoors?  No problem – a Coastal Campfire is perfect for outdoor use in the backyard, on the deck, the balcony, at the beach or picnic area.

Our Commitments

Our complementary campfire products are carefully sourced from responsible vendors both locally and around the world, who are vetted to ensure compliance with both local and international environmental and labor regulations.  Alternatively, we custom design and manufacture our products in-house to exacting standards.  Made with the highest quality materials, they are meticulously designed to both work hard, last long and enhance your outdoor campfire experience.  If you are dissatisfied with any product you have purchased from us, we encourage you to return it to us for a full refund.

We remain collectively and deeply concerned with the effects of climate change and aspire to uphold the spirit of the early environmentalist by creating a company that both supports the protection of these special places and leaves a legacy for future generations to behold. As the Coastal Campfires evolves, it will continue to work to reduce its environmental footprint by selecting product and packaging materials and business processes and that minimize its impacts on the great outdoors. For example, Coastal Campfires products will be shipped through Sendle the first 100% carbon neutral nation-wide shipping service in Australia, Canada, and the US.
